Overview of
MAC Rugby:
With a focus on Alumina (Aluminium Oxide) and Zirconia (Zirconium Oxide) ceramic, the Rugby facility processes material from powder form to finished component using Die and
Iso-static pressing, Green Machining, Sintering and a variety of post fire operations, including diamond grinding, lapping and polishing.
Components are manufactured to customer specifications and very often involve fine tolerances.
Further processing capabilities include glazing and metallising, with two forms of the latter being
offered:
- Thick Film - involving precious metal pastes, resistors, dielectric insulation layers and sealing glass. This form of metallising can be used to provide interfaces that can be soldered, multi-layer conductor and resistor networks and glass bonded ceramic/ceramic assemblies
- Refractory Metallising - using a coating of Molybdenum or Molybenum-Managanese paints with nickel plating, an interface can be provided that enables ceramic/metal assemblies to be formed by brazing. The joints in this case are hermetic.
An extensive range of braze kilns are available and a significant proportion of the Rugby site production is dedicated to ceramic/metal assemblies.
The company supplies a broad range of markets, including Medical, Aerospace, Defence, Electronic, Industrial, Scientific and Semiconductor Processing.
